As you will appreciate a project of this size requires interested partners to achieve success and I am seeking industry sponsorship to partner and support me to progress this appealing and innovative project.

Following is an excerpt from our project brief as to what role Swinburne is suggesting that technical partners may play:

The role of the technical partner is to assist in setting design and customer parameters or the technical parameters or they may have expertise in marketing of the new product or advanced manufacturing process.

By assisting a student professional project, a company or individual is providing technical support/advice, with approximately six contacts per semester. No cost or payment is required for the project, unless otherwise negotiated with the student.

When discussing the project with potential partners you should mention the potential benefits of partnerships to participating companies as follows:

Creativity and innovation in design that will be supported with engineering knowledge from the student's prior studies and Industry Based Learning experience

A student's fresh approach to problem solving

Opportunity for the company to explore directions otherwise not considered due to cost and/or staffing constraints

Collaborating with engineering and design staff, as well as other research sectors from Swinburne University of Technology

Opportunity for industry to evaluate the skills and benefits of a Product Design Engineering student

Financial and/or technical support may be provided by the company in building prototypes for experimentation
