Ergonomic Test Frame Trainer 24/04/2008

Ergonomic Test Frame/Trainer

The objective of the human powered vehicle trainer is to scientifically test medium for the most ergonomic rider position whilst still maintaining aerodynamics. In theory the most ergonomic rider position will in turn deliver the greatest power output from the rider.

Traner1

The HPV trainer was specifically manufactured by Steele von Hoffe and myself to meet the needs for this testing. The seat angle of the jig is fully customisable with the ability to slide both on the x and y axis at each of the three different plates which are all hinged so your buttocks, waist and back are all supported. The pedal height and length is also adjustable in the x and y direction, giving the ability to monitor how much power output changes when compared to height of your heart.

Trainer2

For all these measurement to occur, a power tap wheel needs to be fitted to the jig to monitor the power output at different seat configurations.

The trainer will not only be used as a tool for testing purposes, but also once we have found the optimum angle, we will be training on it, as we only will have limited time available to train in the actual bike.
